When we look at the creation of mankind in the garden of Eden, found in Genesis chapters 1 and 2, we see that God first created Adam and then Eve. This was the intentional doing of Christ—providing a helpmate, a partner, for Adam.

After placing Adam in a deep sleep, God removed one of the man’s ribs and formed Eve, whom Adam called "wo-man" (woman) because she was “taken out of man” (Genesis 2:23). Verse 24 goes on to say that a man and woman shall be united and become one flesh.

If we are going to follow God, our attractions toward one another, whether it be male-female, male-male, or female-female, must ultimately coincide with God's intentions as presented in His Word.

Let’s consider a few verses. Leviticus 18:22 says, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is [an] abomination” (KJV).

This verse seems very clear. What can we conclude?

What about Leviticus 20:13? “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination” (KJV).

The desires of Christ seem clear when we put our lives, preferences, and desires in His will. God has designed men and women for a particular purpose. Regardless of how we feel, shouldn't we use God’s Word to guide us in living our lives as pleasing in His sight?

God’s purpose for us in living our lives in accordance with His will is to save us from the wages of sin, which is death. “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9–10).

God’s mandate for the sexual use of our bodies should not be seen as simply an arbitrary limitation on our lives. Whatever attractions we have that are outside of God’s purpose for men and women, we can be victorious through Christ in living the way He wants us to live.

The Bible has many passages that speak on the topic of homosexuality. They are debatable, but in the end we must use Christ’s will to guide our futures.

Romans 1:26, 27 says, “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.”

What do you think the Bible tells us about homosexuality?
